Hi, it's me Roman,

"Artist" busted on statue's head

Yesterday LCPD busted Liberty City’s self-proclaimed Liberty City’s self-proclaimed artist Niko Bellic. He was badly injured, because the police had to use firearms. Bellic refused to leave the head of Liberty City’s landmark “Statue of Happiness” where he had tried to set the coffee cup on fire. He was using molotow cocktails and a launcher. In a phone call with the daily Globe minutes before Bellic said, the police operation would be an attack against the freedom of arts. Bellic said he was working on a trilogy about the four elements.A spokesman of the LCPD said Bellic was delusional and dangerous. After his recovery he will be accused for public nuisance, incendiarism and violation of the War Weapons Control Act. Bellic was taken to the “Holland Hospital Center”, where he was placed in an artificial coma. A spokesperson of the city said the damage at the statue amounts to 5000 USD.

Going abstract

representational art is for cowards. if you want to find out truth you need abstract arts. i'm om the way.

Liberty is calling

When american documentarists don't have an idea what picture they shall show, they show overhead wiring with some blues or country song. This film is a hommage to the american documentarists and to John Lee Hooker. I love him since I saw "The Blues Brothers" in a cinema in Belgrade, when I was a boy.
Roman says, he thinks the film is "interesting" and "perhaps a little bit too long".
Well, judge by yourself.

Trailer

Please don't think, I am lazy (of course I am). I am working on the documentary and with the first material I shot, I made a short trailer. I'am very glad, that I am a filmmaker now. O.K. from time to time I have got trouble with the police, but that is because they are always so nervous here in Liberty. And when your sitting on a motorcycle, riding and with the camera in front of your eye, smaller accidents can happen. Who cares, I did more dangerous things in the past. Now weeks later, this past seems to me like an other life.

I heard Wim Wenders new film is bullshit, I would say Wenders is overrated anyway. He shot in Palermo with some german punkrocker I never heard about...

So, please watch the trailer, hope you like it a bit.

Hello again

I’m not dead, even if I sometimes wonder why. I would like to apologize my long silence, but you would not believe what happened the last weeks. And I won’t tell you. But like my uncle Sascha used to say: Let’s see the results. I earned enough to produce a documentary picture about Liberty City now.

I made a little film yesterday, I shot it one day from the early morning to the late evening and edited it at night. Thanks to Roman, who made the pictures of me. The Film is a finger exercise to learn about my camera and the editing program. The song I found on an old mixed tape called "Hits nobody bought".

Drive-by Shootings

I was wondering how I can connect my job with my artistic activities, when I heard about David Bradford, who is a cab driver in New York, what seems to be quite similar to Liberty City. David was at the Rhode Island School of Design, me not, so I tried copy him, as a method to learn from him. David is a role model for me, I really admire his work. Under each pic you find a link to the original.

Taxidriver

Being a cabdriver in Liberty is a great job, especially at rainy nights. Cruising around in an “Albany”, guided by the warm voice of the route guidance system, feeling the rhythm of a city that never sleeps, while thousands of colored lights reflect on the splashy road, windshield wipers slapping offbeat to Charlie Parkers “Night And Day” on the radio. Enjoying the breathtaking view while crossing East Borough Bridge, lost in thought on Dukes Boulevard, past is what you see in the driving mirror. Of course all customers are crazy, but who cares?

Roman and me at the beach

Had a nice afternoon with my cousin Roman at the beach. You can see him on the pic above. I had some trouble the last days and decided to switch off my mobile, because I can't say "no" when someone asks me for help. Openly spoken Roman was the reason for my trouble, but at this afternoon it was like in the old days, when we were children.
Unfortunately the camera I bought is trash. It is not possible to plug it into the computer to edit the material. But I work on it. I have so many ideas for a shortfilm about LC.

Look at the bright side!

While I'm not working, I still feel like a tourist, I think the pics do show that a little bit. Believe it or not, but I am still to shy, to ask people if I can take a picture of them. My English is not too bad, but, I don't know, it is still a little bit strange to live in the "land of opportunity". The guy with the sax is from St. Petersburg, we talked a little bit. He used to play in big orchestras, but paying is better on the streets here. Crazy world.
Northern Gardens: I like this place at the seaside. Looks a little bit like home (years ago, when we still had a seaside).
Middle Park: Most famous public park in the world. Very nice!
Westdyke: Sunsets are always touching my romantic side. I should sell the pic as a wallpaper.

Middle Park: Sunrise (!) looks nice to.

Meadows Park (Underground Station)
Tomorrow I have to work all day I'm my cousins cab. I would like to buy a cheap video camera I found in china town.

Hello everybody

I am in Liberty for two days now, and everything still seems a little bit unreal to me. But here is the proof. Me, wearing the Statue-of- Happiness-Sweat-Shirt in front of the incredible skyline. I will take some photos the next days, I would like to show you, that Liberty City is more than criminals and theft auto and so on. It is full of beautiful spots.
I hope you will enjoy my blog, which should show an immigrants view on US and especially on this fantastic city.
